Conversion from .com to .bank
We recently changed our website from www.epremierbank.com to a PremierBank.bank domain. The ending of our email addresses at the bank also changed to @PremierBank.bank.
What is .bank?
It is a sponsored TLD (Top-Level Domain) used in the DNS (Domain Name System) of the internet. The TLD was officially delegated to fTLD Registry Services on behalf of the Financial Services Roundtable and the American Bankers Association.
What do you need to do?
We encourage you to begin using our new website address and email addresses; however, the old ones will still work at this time. If you try to visit our old website, you will be redirected to our new website. Emails sent to our @epremierbank.com email addresses will be forwarded to our new @PremierBank.bank email addresses. While website redirection and email forwarding will remain in place for the foreseeable future, please update any bookmarks and email addresses in your records.
Due to the additional security and safety with the .bank domain, we ask you to be wary of emails, texts, or printed information containing variations of our old .com domain, such as www.premierbank.com, www.epremierbank.net, or www.epremierebank.com. Fraudsters may use variations of our old .com addresses to scam you. Do NOT click on links and contact us immediately if you receive anything. Please look for the .bank in our communications going forward to know it’s actually from us. If it’s not PremierBank.bank, it’s not us.
Why did we make the change?
- Enhanced security. The .bank domain is governed to offer a trusted, verified, more secure, and easily identifiable location on the internet specifically for financial services and customers. Due to the ongoing issues regarding cybersecurity in our society today and our commitment to protecting our customer’s information, conversion to .bank became a priority for our bank to help protect our customers from fraud, identity theft, phishing, account takeover, and more.
- Strong verification. Most domains, such as .com and .net are available to the public. Everyone can purchase them, which means anyone can impersonate real banks. However, only legitimate banking community members can own a .bank domain name and must undergo a stringent process to prove that the bank is real and the request for a .bank web address is genuine.
- Strong encryptions. The .bank domain provides more security to protect data content in web browser communications. This creates a more secure site, especially for entering your Online Banking credentials.
- DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) verifies user access and prevents redirection to a malicious site.
- Our digital identity certificate enables HTTPS, which secure data in transit for our .Bank domain.
- Published DMARC and SPF records in DNS for email authentication protect against phishing, boost email deliverability, and enhance email communication security.
- Email authentication. The .bank domain uses domain-based message authentication, which gives email service providers more assurance that mail originating from the PremierBank.bank domain actually came from our bank, not a malicious scammer.
- Better description. Our previous website address had “e” before “premierbank”. This may imply that we are an electronic bank, and we want all transactions and interactions with customers to be electronic. This is not true. We pride ourselves in being a community bank and love to meet with our customers in person as well as provide the convenient online tools to make banking with us easier.
